Encounters Everywere

Our Stanton Mobile is open four days each week, and shines as beacon of hope for abortion-vulnerable women.  But our ministry doesn’t stop even after the clinic is closed!

The Stanton team members wear many hats; for example, our sonographer Blanca also drives our beautiful Mobile every day that we’re open. She parks it in front of Planned Parenthood and there she does the work of providing a window to the womb, allowing abortion-vulnerable women the opportunity to see and hear the little life they hold.

Aside from our Mobile ministering to abortion-vulnerable women in front of Planned Parenthood, we routinely discover the work it can do in any setting.

The beauty of a mobile clinic is that not only do we get to park directly in the path of women entering Planned Parenthood, but the Mobile is a giant billboard everywhere it goes - even at the gas station!

Blanca usually fills up the Mobile once or twice a week. It’s usually a quick stop, where Blanca pumps the gas and drives away.

One recent day at our usual gas station, it was particularly busy. The big Stanton Mobile takes the space of two pumps, so we waited for a lane to open up right in front of a car putting air in the tires. The driver waved at Blanca. Blanca waved back, then rolled down her window as she saw the woman begin to speak.

Where were you ten years ago?
— a regretful mother

The woman called out, “Where were you ten years ago?”

Blanca heard what she said and met her face with teary eyes and a shy smile.

The woman continued: “I had an abortion when I was very young... he would have been 10 by now. Since then I haven’t been able to have any... I want a baby, my baby”.

Blanca ministering at the most unlikely place… a gas station!

Blanca got out of the Mobile to hug the woman and comfort her. As Blanca and the woman spoke more, she explained her feelings and thoughts, and expressed a desire to find healing from the pain and regret of her past abortion. Blanca was a listening ear and a compassionate presence, comforting this sorrowful mother and connecting her to local resources for post-abortion healing before saying goodbye.

This encounter was a reminder that our Mobile is a powerful presence in the community, and every day it is on the road is another opportunity to reach people with the truth! Everyone who makes it possible to keep the Mobile on the road plays a huge part in bringing hope and healing to our High Desert. Thank you!
